Strong approximation methods in group theory LMS/EPSRC Short course

چکیده
Here ZS = Z[1/p | p ∈ S]. In case (b) we can deduce from the Strong Approximation Theorem that ∆1 has many finite images, in particular the groups ∏k i=1 G(Fpi) whenever p1, . . . , pk are distinct primes outside S. Now, for all but finitely many primes p the group G(Fp) is semisimple, in fact it is a perfect central extension of a product of simple groups (of fixed Lie type over Fp). The simple groups of Lie type are very well understood and this enables us to deduce properties of the profinite completion ∆̂ of ∆.

متن کاملModeling thermodynamic properties of electrolytes: Inclusion of the mean spherical approximation (MSA) in the simplified SAFT equation of state
In this work, an equation of state has been utilized for thermodynamic modeling of aqueous electrolyte solutions. The proposed equation of state is a combination of simplified statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT) equation of state (similar to simplified PC-SAFT) to describe the effect of short-range interactions and mean spherical approximation (MSA) term to describe the effect of long-r...

This project follows a successful collaboration of the principal investigator together with Rees (Newcastle), Braunstein (York) and Lawson (Heriot-Watt) on EPSRC project GR/R87406/01 “Quantum Computing and Algorithms in Group Theory”. Results of this collaboration include a generalisation [4] of the Deutsch-Jozsa-Höyer algorithm, to cover a wider range of functions than before, and construction...
متن کاملThe Effect of a Short Term Course of Problem Solving on Self-Concept of Nursing Students at Shiraz Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery
Introduction: Teaching problems solving skills is not formally included in educational programs of nursing students. On the other hand, fostering self-concept in nurses is an issue which has to be considered. This study was performed to determine the effect of a short problem solving course on nursing students’ self concept in Shiraz Nursing and Midwifery School. Methods: In this quasi-experim...
